Artiste am\u00e9ricain install\u00e9 \u00e0 Berlin, Jeremiah Day (n\u00e9 en 1974 \u00e0 Plymouth) r\u00e9examine dans son travail les luttes politiques et conflits r\u00e9cents, en r\u00e9v\u00e9lant leurs contextes et traces subjectives. Pour ce faire, il a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une forme narrative dans laquelle les r\u00e9alit\u00e9s personnelle et politique s’entrem\u00ealent, offrant ainsi une vision toute singuli\u00e8re de ces moments d’histoire parfois oubli\u00e9s.
\nLa sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 de sa d\u00e9marche r\u00e9side dans une approche transversale. \u00c9l\u00e8ve et collaborateur r\u00e9gulier de Simone Forti, l’une des pionni\u00e8res de la Post-Modern Dance<\/em>, il a fait de la performance une pratique d\u00e9sormais centrale et structurante. Depuis 2014, Jeremiah Day a en effet pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 de nombreuses performances, qui combinent mouvement, improvisation, photographie et spoken word<\/em>, afin d’aborder des sujets historiques et politiques universels, mais dans une perspective intime et incarn\u00e9e.<\/div>\n

Accompanying a series of solo collaborations in 2020, this publication offers the first comprehensive and global perspective on Jeremiah Day’s work as an artist, performer, researcher and teacher. As it details Day’s specific works and evolution between visual and performing arts and between political reflection and engagement the result also serves as sourcebook for the legacy of the intersection between dance and the visual arts of the 1960s and 70’s and the models of cultural practice emerging from the work of Hannah Arendt.<\/div>\n

In his work, the Berlin-based American artist Jeremiah Day (born 1974 in Plymouth) re-examines recent political struggles and conflicts, revealing their subjective contexts and traces. To do this, he has developed a narrative and choreographic form in which personal and political realities intermingle, thus offering a thoroughly singular vision of these at times forgotten moments of history.
\nThe distinctive feature of his method lies in a transversal approach. As a student of and regular collaborator with Simone Forti, one of the pioneers of Post-Modern Dance, he has turned performance into a now central and structure-providing practice. Since 2014, Jeremiah Day has in effect presented many performances, which contain movement, improvisation, photography and the spoken word, in order to broach universal historical and political subjects, but within an intimate and incarnated context.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
