Exp\u00e9rimentations sur la mati\u00e8re, installations, performances, d\u00e9coupes architecturales, dessins, films, photographies, ou photomontages t\u00e9moignent de cette multiplicit\u00e9 de d\u00e9marches et de mediums explor\u00e9s. C&#8217;est au travers de ses d\u00e9coupes (<em>cuttings<\/em>) et dissections de b\u00e2timents qu&#8217;il s&#8217;est fait d&#8217;abord conna\u00eetre, en intervenant sur des immeubles abandonn\u00e9s et vou\u00e9s \u00e0 la d\u00e9molition. Ces spectaculaires d\u00e9coupes ont longtemps pr\u00e9valu dans les analyses, et ont le plus souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme des attaques port\u00e9es contre l&#8217;architecture.<br \/>\nPourtant, architecte de formation, Gordon Matta-Clark a surtout cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 exp\u00e9rimenter, selon ses termes, \u00ab\u00a0les usages alternatifs d&#8217;espaces qui sont les plus familiers\u00a0\u00bb. Sur la base de documents d&#8217;archives, cet ouvrage propose de lire ses travaux depuis ce point de vue <em>venant de l&#8217;architecture<\/em>, en envisageant les mouvements de sa pens\u00e9e spatiale et ses enjeux architecturaux, dans tous les lieux singuliers explor\u00e9s.
