J\u00e9r\u00f4me Bel offers a different a approach to dance. In which dancers become speaking subjects and co-authors of his works. In which professional dancers and amateurs coming from different cultural and social contexts have access, together, to the stage. In which the realm of the \u201creal\u201d and of its excluded subjects becomes content and form of his choreographic pieces.
\nThrough a research path that aims to investigate the character and prospects of the performative act, the Center for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci of Prato has organized the first solo exhibition in a museum of French choreographer J\u00e9r\u00f4me Bel, curated by Antonia Alampi. The show brings together a selection of his most significant works to investigate the many possibilities of translating performance within the duration of an exhibition. It is time, more than space, that characterizes this project. Hence the title 76\u201938 \u2018\u2019 + \u221e that alludes to the duration, to the sum of the lengths of the videos on view: an encouragement to observe the works on display from the beginning to the end, a classical norm in theatres, an unusual behaviour in the museum. Here \u221e refers to the countless possibilities of a new dance, an on-going one created specifically for the Centro Pecci: a work without an end, thought to be experienced from a few seconds to eternity.
\nThe catalogue is a compendium on the work of Bel, designed to provide a broader overview on his artistic practice. In addition to a critical essay by Gerald Siegmund, which provides a lengthy analysis of his research from the nineties to the present, and a conversation with the curator in which Bel discusses many of the theoretical problems that have led to the creation of his works, this publication includes images in large format and descriptions of many of his works.<\/p>\n

L\u2019esposizione raccoglie una selezione delle sue opere pi\u00f9 significative puntando a investigare le varie modalit\u00e0 di traduzione della performance in durata espositiva.

Da qui il titolo 76\u201938\u2019\u2019 + \u221e che allude proprio alla durata, alla somma delle lunghezze dei video in mostra: un incoraggiamento a osservare i lavori dall\u2019inizio alla fine, norma classica all\u2019interno del teatro, comportamento inconsueto nel museo. Dove \u221e \u00e8 invece riferito alle innumerevoli possibilit\u00e0 della nuova danza, un loop creato appositamente per il Centro Pecci: un\u2019opera senza fine realizzata per essere esperita dai pochi secondi all\u2019eternit\u00e0.
\nIl catalogo \u00e8 un compendio del lavoro di Bel, pensato per fornire un approfondimento generale sulla sua pratica artistica.
