En\u202fquoi garde-t-elle des principes qui paraissaient lui \u00eatre essentiels dans les ann\u00e9es 1960-1970\u2009? Depuis cette p\u00e9riode o\u00f9 le corps de l\u2019artiste brisait, de sa pr\u00e9sence magique, les limites physiques, morales et psychologiques que le public ne franchirait jamais, qu\u2019est devenu cet art dont Marina\u202fAbramovi\u0107 demeure la figure symbolique et l\u2019idole\u2009? Actuellement, la performance semble particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9pandue, mais dilu\u00e9e dans une foule de petits \u00e9v\u00e9nements et institutionnalis\u00e9e, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire reconnue par les plus importantes structures artistiques internationales, lesquelles se\u202fposent le\u00a0probl\u00e8me de l\u2019archive, de la transmission ou du \u00ab\u202freenactment\u202f\u00bb d\u2019une pratique en principe peu f\u00e9tichisable. Les textes r\u00e9unis ici questionnent ce passage entre la p\u00e9riode \u00ab\u202fcanonique\u202f\u00bb de la performance et aujourd\u2019hui, selon deux dimensions dont les cons\u00e9quences s\u2019entrelacent\u2009: la transversalit\u00e9 entre les pratiques artistiques \u2013 th\u00e9\u00e2tre, danse, musique, cin\u00e9ma, vid\u00e9o, po\u00e9sie \u2013, et sa r\u00e9sonance politique. Le r\u00f4le de la performance, de l\u2019intrusion du performatif, est-il de faire sortir les arts de cat\u00e9gories qui les mus\u00e9ifient et les r\u00e9ifient\u2009? Ce r\u00f4le fut-il politique\u2009? L\u2019est-il encore\u2009?
