Si le concept phare de French Theory a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9fini dans les\u00a0ann\u00e9es 1990 pour\u00a0\u00e9voquer la r\u00e9ception enthousiaste que les \u00c9tats-Unis ont\u00a0r\u00e9serv\u00e9 \u00e0 des auteurs comme\u00a0Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze ou\u00a0Jacques Derrida, d\u2019autres\u00a0figures, telles que Suzanne et Aim\u00e9 C\u00e9saire, Frantz Fanon, Maryse Cond\u00e9, \u00c9douard\u00a0Glissant ou encore Monique Wittig, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9terminantes pour le champ de\u00a0l\u2019art comme pour les \u00e9tudes postcoloniales, f\u00e9ministes et de genre.
