Encounter #29 – Christine Quoiraud

Thursday October 16 – 7p.m.
Dearchiving, re-archiving, a talk around Bodyweather – Christine Quoiraud

A member of Min Tanaka’s company between 1985 and 1990, an improvisation teacher, a dancer and a performer, Christine Quoiraud took the Body Weather Laboratory* (or meteorology of the body) practice and tools on the roads, and within a diverse social settings.
Since 2018, she’s engaged in extensive research on the history and archives of this practice. This project is supported by the CN D.

What kind of traces should an experience leave? How to approach what is returned? How to tell and recall while nourishing a tradition of uncertainty, as an improvisation practice does?
During this encounter, Christine Quoiraud will explore possibilities to delve into the polysemy of testimonials while keeping the experience’s narrative among people. An evening in which stories will be unfolded, archival documents shared and where the story will be written in the present, with a practice time and the invitation to slow down.

* The Body Weather Laboratory was initiated by Min Tanaka and the Tokyo laboratory members, between 1978 and 1980.
