Atelier Danses croisées

This workshop is designed for people learning French, it is part of a larger research project called Moving words in space, an artistic and teaching practice developed by Agnès Benoit and focusing on a dialogue between dance improvisation and language acquisition.

For the school year 2026-27, Agnès will work with a group of 10th grader students, non-native French-speakers, from Brémontier high school, in Bordeaux. A monthly workshop will take place between November and April and will end as a one-week long residency in May 2027.

Brémontier students will explore action verbs. Verbs that make you move, dream and appreciate different movement qualities, from which solos will be created. These short compositions will be the guiding thread for language and dance learning. They will then be transcribed into scores, in French, but also in their own languages, to later on be shared and taught amongst students, friends and family members. 

This project is taking place at the Argonne community center in Bordeaux and is funded by Drac Nouvelle Aquitaine and Brémontier high school.
