Gender roles in hip-hop dance
Account of an action research project
With Fanny Delépine, dancer, PhD student
« Researcher and dancer. Two positions. Or plural position, with no distinction. Using these different aspects, and make research, so that it’s useful, in practical terms. To be in a dynamic where knowledge produces practice, and practice produces knowledge, while attempting to carry out actions, at both the academic level and in relation to practices. »
Drawing from her ongoing PhD thesis « hip-hop dances; artistic practices through the lens of gender », Fanny Delépine, hip-hop and contemporary dancer trained in Bordeaux and PhD student at Bordeaux Montaigne University, shares her personal story and her experience as a researcher in the field of hip-hop dances.
