A weekend of dance, at Centre Lafaurie,  Castets et Castillon (France, Gironde)
Saturday May 15th, 10a.m. – Monday May 17th, 5p.m.

Moving words in space – a three day weekend with Agnès Benoit

Moving words in space is an artistic and teaching practice developed by Agnès Benoit and focusing on a dialogue between dance improvisation and language acquisition (here English). In what way can an unknown or unfamiliar language start making sense while moving? How can it resonate within the body and initiate a dance?

The exploration of language and movement takes place simultaneously, without any distinction. The participants find themselves in a full immersion situation, they’re asked to respond to what’s happening around them in a very spontaneous way. Language memorisation is linked to a physical action, without involving any translation. This practice evolves in a very playful environment, which brings in trust and allows for the body to relax all the way to the tongue muscles, thus enabling flow of speech.

Open to all. All skill levels in English and/or dance are welcome. This is how this practice is enriched.
